Integrated Bodywork Therapy

The human body is a deeply intelligent, self-organising system with a profound capacity to heal itself. Beneath layers of tension, adaptation, and protection, there is an innate physical wisdom that knows how to orient toward balance, safety, and flow.

This work supports a return to that intelligence.

What is Integrated Body Therapy?

Integrated Bodywork Therapy is a uniquely attuned, presence-led form of bodywork rooted in studies of; Thai massage, abhyanga, remedial and deep tissue massage, Traditional Chinese Medicine, qi healing, cross-cultural ancestral medicine wisdom, contact improvisation, and a deep understanding of body mechanics and anatomy. More than any single modality, the work is guided by listening.

What Does a Session Involve?

Each session begins by entering presence — in deep listening, a map appears. A map that moves with the currents within the body. The path organically reveals itself, and is followed quietly, slowly, knowing that each step of the way, the journey changes. From this listening, the session unfolds.

The therapist attunes to the individual, arranging the body into shapes and positions that allow energy, sensation, and breath to move more freely again. These gestures are not pre-planned or repeatable. They arise through a series of small moments that help the body reorganise itself. The session is alive, continuous, and ever-evolving.

The client stays fully clothed, and the practice is done on a shiatsu floor mat.

Similar to the practice of Thai massage, this is deeply attuned, hands-on work, and sessions can evoke a feeling of intimacy as there is close physical contact between the body of the therapist and the patient, as well as a deep attuning and presence shared. It is very important to know that this form of intimacy is strictly professional and therapeutic. Clear boundaries, consent, and respect are foundational to every session. It is common and natural for this kind of non-romantic intimacy to feel new and unfamiliar.

Who Can Benefit from this Work?

Through life, we all encounter transitions, disruptions, and moments of threat — physical, emotional, psychological. The body adapts beautifully, to protect us and help us survive. Over time, however, if these patterns of protection are not given space to soften and resolve, they can leave us living in a chronic state of tension or fear, keeping us from feeling any sort of relief.

Common experiences during these periods may include anxiety, chronic fatigue, depression, restlessness, chronic pain, brain fog, dissociation, digestive issues, apathy, resistance to change, or a general loss of vitality and lust for life. It’s important to recognise these not as personal failures, but as signs of nervous system disregulation.

Ultimately, we want to live in a state where we are responsive to the world, not blocked from it.

This work offers a space to unwind some of that holding. Through grounded presence and attuned touch, the body is given permission to release into a place of trust. In this restful state, trust in the body’s own intelligence can return. The natural rhythm of who you are beneath the tension has space to re-emerge, and your vital essence can move back into fuller expression.

Here, from this place of relief, we can reconnect to an appreciation of being here in this body, on this earth.

What Must I Know Before Coming to a Session?

In order to heal, one must consciously choose to - the therapist cannot be of support without a reciprocal willingness to engage in this work. If you feel the call towards this process, you are warmly invited to book a session with me and explore what it feels like to inhabit your body more fully and freely.

You must always trust your body and its needs above than anything else. Never force openness or trust before you’re ready. Allow yourself the patience to adjust over time, to receive when it feels safe, and the space for your mind and your feelings to change. You are not confined to any one way of being.

What Do I Bring to a Session?

It’s best to wear comfortable clothing — long pants are preferable, with room to move. T-shirts, singlets are ok for the top.

The essential thing you must bring is your intention to lean into presence, and your willingness to participate in healing.

The duty of the therapist is to guide the client towards their own healing capacity, there is no healer hierarchy - we all have this wisdom within.
